Everything you need to know about Ahriman and how this pack runs, can be found within this thread.
Please ensure that you read all that is posted here thoroughly, as things will be far easier for you if you do.
All of this information is posted so you know how to approach the pack, not because we feel like making this up.
This is all very important information, and you would do well to pay attention to it.

1. Our Land
2. The Rules
3. Ranks of Ahriman

These are our lands. You would do well to stay inside the borders,
lest you be taken prisoner by a neighboring pack.

OOC Rules

xx If you hold a grudge against a player in the pack, don’t bring it into a thread. No one wants to read a thread with a bunch of bickering. We don’t want to see it. Take care of it some other way.

xx You must be active. You must post with your character/s at least once every two weeks. If you are going to be gone, let me know. Otherwise, your character may lose its rank/position within Ahriman.

xx Ranks are not attainable through begging. If you beg for a rank, you will just get on my nerves.
You may politely PM me with a rank that you have in mind so I can keep it in my mind for future decisions.

xx There is a post rule. Two paragraphs minimum - six sentences each, with proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.

xx Please refrain from OOC posting. If you must post OOCly, please stay on topic.

IC Rules

xx No mating unless approved of by the Alpha and Alphess first. No exceptions. Everyone, regardless of rank, must abide by this rule.

xx Species that are allowed:

All breeds including:

Arctic wolf
Dire wolf
Timber/Gray wolf
Eurasian wolf
Tundra wolf
Spirit Whisperers
Above wolf mix

Sabre

-An occasional hellhound or hellcat will be considered.

xx Absolutely NO neon colored wolves or sabres. Don’t bring your neon blue wolf here thinking he’ll be accepted. A neon colored animal will be chased out regardless of species.

xx Males are dominant in most cases. Do not come here expecting to attain a high rank if your character is female. You may be considered for a rank if your character has the proper skills and is loyal to the pack. Your female's mate can treat her any way he wants to short of death, and fatal wounds.

xx Must be willing to fight. All members will be taught to fight, though you may not necessarily be placed in the special defenses.

Acceptance
You must be a breed stated above to have a chance at acceptance. If you are too blindingly bright, you will be chased away, regardless of breed. The Alpha doesn't want wolves that stand out too much from the foliage, nor does he want members to blind him or allies should they go to ally lands or the allies come to our land.

Intruders
You either put "acceptance" in the title, or you will be considered an intruder. You have two posts total, the initial entering of the pack, and one getting your character's butt out of the territory. If you fail to do so, your character will be killed WITHOUT consent, which means you can't complain when your character dies. It's dead. Read the forum rules for that. NO CHARACTER REVIVALS.

Leaving
You may be sent to ally packs for certain training. If you are, you must be respectful of the other pack’s rules. When your training is complete, you will be welcomed back.
If you have a legitimate reason for leaving temporarily, without needing training from a fellow pack, then you will be allowed to leave. If not, you will not be allowed. It's as simple as that.
If you leave without warning, don’t come back. We won’t allow deserters back into our ranks.

Alliances
The Alpha and Alphess are welcome to such occurrences. They will only consider those that will keep their word, and if you do not uphold your end of the alliance, our alliance will be condemned and anyone from your pack that enters our borders will be chased out. If they return, they will be killed on sight.

Challenges
If you challenge the Alpha or Alphess, be prepared to fight the Guard, and any others that want the leaders to stay. These challenges are one-on-one, meaning you cannot have more than one wolf challenging the Alpha for his rank. It just doesn't work that way.

Ranks
Ranks will be given to those that are active within the pack and can prove their worth. You may also challenge someone for their rank. This will be considered a challenge, and the winner will attain the rank. The loser will be demoted to a rank that the Alpha sees fit.

Fighting
Fighting only happens under four circumstances: mating ritual, war, training, and challenges. If you fight for any other reason, you will be severely punished. No exceptions.
You are not, under any circumstances, allowed to fight a wolf for breaking the rules. If you see a wolf breaking the rules, you are to report directly to a member of the Royal Family with your sighting. Then you will be allowed to aid in the deliverance of punishment.

Mating (non-ritual)
Though allowed, you must receive approval by the Alpha and Alphess, regardless of rank.

Illegitimate pups will be killed, and parents will be banished from the pack lands.

If you receive permission, you may have up to two litters each year. You will be allowed to raise your pups until they reach nine months of age. They will then be taken to be taught to fight, and will train for a rank.

~~Mating is allowed from February to August~~

Mating (ritual)

The mating ritual is as stated. The males of the pack will line up and fight. The length of the mating ritual fights are the same as the length of the actual fights, and grammar and spelling also applies here. But here, if you are bitten once, you are to leave the challenge and watch the others. Then, the last two fighting will keep going at it until one is bitten. Then the females will line up and battle like the males. Again, once you are bitten, even just once, you have to sit out and watch the rest. The two victors will mate, and if the Alpha would like, he may choose a wolfess to mate with. So if you want pups, and do not win, hope that he chooses you.

~~PM me if you think there is anything else that should be discussed~~

PostSubject: Ranks   Ahriman Handbook I_icon_minitimeMon Jun 22, 2009 11:21 pm

Ranks, descriptions, and members

There are currently [2] members of the pack.

Navy - Royal Family (can rank and accept members)
Amethyst - those related/mated to a member of the Royal Family
Ochre - those ranked directly by Warbade
Fuschia - those ranked directly by Sonia
Crimson - those ranked directly by Cantrelle
Chartreuse - those that can accept members
Mustard - those that can rank members

*~*Royal Family*~*

*~*Alpha*~*
The alpha is in charge of the pack. He runs all outside (alliances, wars, etc.) along with some inside aspects (ranks, training, etc.), and makes choices he sees fit that will benefit the pack as a whole. Should he falter on his duties, he is alone responsible for this. Whether or not you like it, his word is law, and he is not to be disrespected.
Warbade

*~*Alphess*~*
The alphess is the Alpha's mate, and deals with the pack's internal affairs. She is in charge of allowing or banning mates, banishing members, and dealing out punishments. All of her faults are seen as the Alpha's fault, due to the fact that he can deny a rule to be formed or a decision to be made by her. She has slightly less power than the Alpha, but unless she gets the backing of the Alpha (pack rules, IC discussions), her word, unlike her mate's, is not law. She is to be respected at all times.
Sonia

*~*Mistress*~*
This rank is completely unknown to the rest of the pack except by those that hold it. The mistress(es) are wolves that the Alpha trusts and uses for the sexual exploits he doesn't consider his mate for. This rank has no real power over the pack. The only rewards they get are free sex from the Alpha and the knowledge that he's accepted them for such a task.
Jinx

*~*Prince*~*
The prince is any son of the Alpha and Alphess that they deem fit to take the thrown. This male doesn't have to be blood related to the Alphas, but he does have to be considered suitable to take the thrown once they pass it on. He aids the Alpha in everything he does, and has just as much potential power as his predecessors. He can also be chosen by the Princess as her mate, should there be no current Princes, while the Princess is rank filled.

*~*Princess*~*
The prince is any daughter of the Alpha and Alphess that they deem fit to take the thrown. This female doesn't have to be blood related to the Alphas, but she does have to be considered suitable to take the thrown once they pass it on. She aids the Alphess in everything she does, and has just as much potential power as her predecessors. She can also be chosen by the Prince as his mate, should there be no current Princesses, while the Prince rank is filled.
Cantrelle

*~*Heir*~*
Any pup of the Alpha and Alphess. Regardless of whether they are taking the position of their parents, they are to be treated with respect, though they have no real power over the pack.

*~*High Council*~*

*~*Advisor*~*
The advisor does just as his title proclaims. This wolf advises the Royal family to major decisions after taking much time to survey the pack members and the areas around it. This wolf is also known as the Reconnaissance Head Master. This wolf is in charge of sending out the Reconnaissance team to collect information from surrounding packs, whether it be infiltrating another pack, or setting up stations outside of other packs.

*~*Beta*~*
This wolf is the second most trusted wolf in the High Council, and fourth most trusted wolf in the pack. This wolf is the Alpha's second hand man, and takes his place should he die. Though he is required to step down once a Prince comes of age, he will rule the pack in the Alpha's absence. In the case of nonexistent Princes, the Beta takes the Alpha's position permanently. He is the workhorse of the pack, taking on tasks that are too dangerous or important to leave in another's hands.

*~*Gamma*~*
This wolf is the third most trusted wolf in the High Council, and fifth most trusted wolf in the pack. This wolf is the Alphess' right hand girl, and takes her place should she die. Though she is required to step down once a Princess comes of age, she will rules the pack in the Alpha's absence. In the case of nonexistent Princesses, the Gamma takes the Alphess' position permanently. She is the counselor of the pack, killing arguments before they can get to heated.

*~*Trusted*~*

*~*Messenger*~*
The messenger is entrusted with information from the pack to deliver elsewhere. This wolf must be highly trusted by the alpha, for in times of war, this wolf carries messages between generals and their legions.
Jinx

*~*Peacemaker*~*
The peacemaker is the wolf in charge of making alliances, should the alphas not be able to do so. In times of rest, this wolf acts as a hunter.

*~*Mentor*~*
The mentor is responsible for teaching all members, including pups, of the pack the rules of the pack. Should he slack in his duties, he will bring unruliness to the pack.

*~*Head Healer*~*
This wolf is responsible for teaching the other healers their duties, and helping them discover what plants can be found within the pack lands. This wolf is usually the best healer in the pack, though she may choose an apprentice when she feels the time for her to pass down her position is approaching.

*~*Suppliers*~*

*~*Reconnaissance Team*~*
The Reconnaissance Team is responsible for gathering information about packs or other animals outside of the pack lands. They train constantly in the craft of stealth and silence, for if they didn't have those on their side, they would surely be caught. In times of relative peace, they go to neutral areas to recruit members for the pack.

*~*Hunt General*~*
This wolf is in charge of setting up hunt parties to catch prey for the rest of the pack. He is also to gather extra pack members should the need arise, and train his hunters to be the best at what they do.

*~*Hunters*~*
These wolves hunt for the pack. Even if they don't like their Hunt General, they are to follow his orders if they want to bring home food for the entire pack.

*~*Special Defenses*~*

*~*General*~*
The General is the head of his faction. He reports directly to the Alpha and no one else, leading his faction into battle should the need arise. He trains his wards with all he's got, in all weather conditions, to make sure they know what they are doing should the need arise that they must fight. These wolves are very important due to the fact that they keep their faction in tip top shape, and make sure they follow orders regardless of the General giving them. Each faction (listed below) has their own General.
Royal Guard -
Assassin - Vérène
Spy -
Warrior - Cantrelle
Guard -

*~*Royal Guard*~*
These wolves are the personal guards of the Royal Family. Each Royal Guard is trained for a long, grueling three straight months before finally being assigned to a member of the Royal Family. They are to accompany their master every where they go, and get their own dens surrounding those of the Royal Family. Depending on their relationship with their master, they may even be treated to sexual experiences on occasion.
Warbade - None
Sonia - None
Cantrelle - Vérène

*~*Assassins*~*
Assassins are the packs deadliest members. They train constantly, in every weather condition and at any time, to be in the best shape they can be. Most assassins are lithe but muscular, and all must be able to adapt and gain a high agility.

*~*Spy*~*
Spies, like their name, spy on members of the pack and members outside of the pack. They are the meaning of stealth, and must be quick, agile, and invisible to attain this rank. They must also have a good memory, and follow orders from their higher ups without question. In times of peace, these wolves work with the reconnaissance team to gather information about other packs. This rank only goes to wolves with the fur colors of browns and blacks.

*~*Warriors*~*
Warriors are the packs main protection. This is the army in times of war. Like the assassins, they train constantly in the art of fighting, but are less concerned with agility and more with strength and strategics. These wolves are the brutes of the pack, and though they are known for their brute strength, they must be smart with battle techniques and able to follow directions without question unless that order goes against the code of chivalry that they hold dear to their hearts. Like the knights of England, they fight with honor.

*~*Guard*~*
Guards are the packs sentries. They patrol the borders, and are some of the few wolves that can accept members into the pack. These wolves are trained to pry into a potential member's personal life without seeming invasive, and must be able to recognize body language.

*~*Knowledge Keepers*~*

*~*Healers*~*
Healers are taught to know herbs inside and out. They must also know where they grow and how to use them properly. Healers do just as their name suggests, they heal those that are sick, weak, or injured, regardless of age. These wolves appreciate the life of others just as much or more than their own.

*~*Artisan*~*
The artisan knows how to make trinkets, such as necklaces or other such items, given to special wolves within the pack, and know how to do the tattoos given to wolves of a certain rank. The pups of this rank will be taught how to make trinkets and tattoos, so the tradition of trinket making and tattoo painting will never be forgotten.

*~*Scholar*~*
Scholars are wolves that know the legends of the pack, and teach them, along with anything else pertaining to ancient history, to the members of the pack. They teach the pups of the pack the meaning of words, how to speak, general knowledge, and the rules of the pack.

*~*Pup Sitters*~*
Pup sitters watch over the packs pups should the parents be unable, or if the pup is an orphan. They aid the scholars in teaching pups, and find pups food during times of scarcity. They are, second to the pups parents, responsible for the development and growth of all pups, as well as keeping the pups alive.

*~*Public Servants*~*

*~*Unranked*~*
These members do not have a rank within the pack, but are still required to help out with the running of the pack, even while they train for a rank. These wolves may be asked to complete errands for ranked members of the pack, and must comply to their wishes until they have attained a rank of their own.

*~*Pups*~*
The young of the pack. These wolves are considered pups until two years of age, and are under full responsibility by their parents and pup sitters. Once they hit one year of age, their parents are no longer responsible for their actions, and they may be punished like any adult, the only difference is that they will be scolded more and physically punished for a shorter amount of time.

*~*Allies*~*
Individual characters or packs that have pledged allegiance to us.
They must aid us in times of war, but other terms of an alliance are decided by them.

*~*Enemies*~*
Individual characters or packs that have deceived us or committed a major crime against us.
Any character on this list, or member of the pack, are to be killed if they are caught within the borders.

*~*FAQ*~*

*~*Rules*~*

  • What if I realllyyy want my character in your pack, but s/he doesn't fit the standards?
    • Tough. I'm sorry, but I have strict policies for this pack, and if you really can't just make another character for this pack, then you shouldn't be barking up the wrong tree. Go look for another pack that will take your character.
  • How many characters exactly can I have in your pack?
    • You may have up to two characters in my pack, though I'd prefer that you only have one unless you have a pup and one of its parents. You should keep your one character active before bringing another one here.

*~*Acceptance*~*

  • What do I do if you don't have any auto-accepted designs and your borders are closed?
    • One, chances are, our borders won't be closed very often, and if they are, they won't be for very long. Just be patient like everyone else is. You'll eventually be able to get a character in here if your character is suitable for the pack.

*~*Membership*~*

  • I have a reason why I didn't respond to a thread. Why did you kick me out?
    • Chances are, you didn't tell me why you were going to be gone. Unfortunately, I don't have the heart to let your character back into the pack at this moment, so you'll have to post another acceptance thread and gain acceptance again. It was your fault for not telling me. I'm not going to go out of my way to make sure you're in this pack.

*~*Ranks*~*

  • May I have this rank pleasseeeee?
    • Put frankly, no. If you beg me any more, I'm not going to let your character get that rank at all. You have to work for your ranks like everyone else.
  • My character's been in your pack forever. Why isn't s/he getting a promotion?
    • Either your character hasn't been active, hasn't been pulling his weight, or he's at the top of the rank that he's got. If you want a different rank in a different division, then start working for it.

*~*Fighting*~*

  • One of the other member's characters questioned my characters honor. Is this probable cause to fight?
    • This my friend, would be probable cause for a spar, not a fight. You can not kill the character that questioned your honor, but you can give them scars. Unfortunately, they can do the same for you, so it's your choice really. Please, get one of the Alpha's or another highly ranked member to oversee the spar.

*~*Mating*~*

  • My character asked the alpha's and they said yes, then later changed their minds. Why?
    • They probably did a check on local prey, how many pups and members there already are, and possible conditions for the future. Trust me, if they gave you permission, then changed their minds, they probably had a good reason for doing so.
