Intrigue

Ever wondered what significance there is behind Sophiax? Ever wanted to know why they are so respectful of the earth and have morals to a fault? Well, here's the place to find out the main reasons behind that, for every moral, there is a story behind it.

Read below for legends, myths, and stories of Sophiax.

To all Scribes

The Scribe must know all of these legends to get the rank. Once they have achieved the rank, they are responsible for telling these stories on appropriate Sabbats, and to the pups born into the pack.

Revered Names
It is a great honor to receive one of these names, even if the name is slightly different.

The honored

Any of the Gods - Self explanatory. If you get a derivative of a God/ess name, s/he has entrusted to you, a marking that stands for him/her, and him/her only.
Rowan MoonPanther - Member of Old Sophiax and founder of the pack. It was by her wishes that the pack be formed as a way of safety and gathering between Wiccans.
SilverAura - Member of Old Sophiax and second founder of the pack.
Keyni - Rowan's mate.
Ash DarkRaven - Rowan’s brother.
HiddenFang - SilverAura’s brother.

The forgotten

Syrai - The female that tried her hardest to save the lives of her pack mates by delivering a message from the Gods. Even though most didn’t believe her, she still fought to save them, eventually dying of heartbreak and damage done by the war. Rowan’s once forgotten ancestor.
Allard - Syrai’s mate; he cared for and protected her until his dying breath.

The dastardly

Warrick - The original, and very cruel, founder of Old Sophiax. If it weren’t for his pack, and the home it provided for Rowan’s parents, Sophiax would not exist today.
Esdemon - The brother of Warrick. He aided in mercilessly killing Rowan and Silver’s parents.

Legends

The Great War
The legend of how, sometimes, love is the strongest motivation of all.

Hundreds of years ago, Syrai, a forgotten (until recently) member of Rowan’s ancestry, was given a message from the Gods, telling her of a great war in the near future that would face her family. Her task, was to warn them to prepare by feeding and training so they would not be wiped out. Syrai took the warning straight to her father, telling him the message that the God Stark had given her. Her father laughed at her and said she was a dreamer and a worrier; that she hadn’t the need to fret.

She greatly reputed him foolish for not believing her, as he had never done such in the past. She searched for members of the pack that believed her. Most laughed at her like her father had, but a few extremely religious members believed her word, and trained alongside her for the great battle. After months of grueling conditions, most ranging from storms to snow, which the religious took as a sign for the war, the wolves felt they were ready for whatever was thrown at them.

Others saw how they’d worked hard to achieve their goal, and they too looked at the evidence. They began making connections between weather, Syrai’s message, and the prey supply, finding the clues frightening. Many more from the pack joined Syrai, and Syrai, along with her followers, made up a small army. During this time, she fell in love with a young male who was only a mere month older than her. He was the best fighter and had the best tactics, and though his main objective was training for the supposed war, he took time out of his training schedule to spend with her.

In the following month to come, he constantly watched her condition, noticing what others didn’t. Due to the scarce prey in the area at the time, she gave more of her portions to her followers, causing her to grow thin, weak, and sick. The male, who was named Allard, hunted furiously and cared for her, bringing her back to health mere days before the war. In her eyes, he was showing his love and dedication for her, and she returned the favor by being grateful to call him her mate.

When the war finally came, Syrai’s father and the other’s that hadn’t believed her were among the first to know about the hatred strewn through their enemies. Syrai and her followers were skeptical of whether they were truly sorry for not believing her, but they still defended their home with all their strength. Many of Syrai’s followers were slaughtered in the war, and even more that hadn’t believed her died along side them. Syrai, being the blessed creature that she was, felt their pain as they died, but was given strength to carry on her fight.

The war raged for months, many tired and were killed before their time. Syrai’s father finally apologized with his last breaths, with Syrai and Allard as his only witnesses. Syrai collapsed next to her father’s cooling body just as the strongest of the enemies attacked. In her one moment of weakness during the war, she’d failed to realize that there’d be time to mourn after the war and to keep fighting. Allard’s love was so strong for Syrai that he sacrificed himself to save her, tearing her life in two, and giving her the last push she needed to end the war.

Her enemies ran with their tails between their legs, never to show their faces in the lands again. The surviving members of the pack took a death count, finding that only 19 of their own had survived. On the positive side, Syrai noted that their enemies had lost many more than they had, and only made it out of the war with seven.

It was around this time that the rest of the pack noticed the bulge that had once been Syrai’s belly. Days after the war, she birthed five pups, the only joy currently in her life. Shortly after they were born, she asked her last five surviving followers to follow her once again, to a distant land where she could live the rest of her days in peace. Her followers agreed without question, each taking a pup while she carried Allard’s body to a cave far away from the pack lands. There, she raised her pups, and one by one, her followers died from wounds that had never fully healed and grown infected. After years of caring for her pups, and vice versa, she finally died of heartbreak and the toll the war had taken on her body. Her resting place is beside Allard’s bones, where they can stay eternally together.

Stories

The Wilting Flower
The story of how one should always be careful of one’s actions. The moral of the story: your actions affect not only you, but everything and everyone around you.

Legend has it, that an ancient but hidden flower grows, alerting passersby of death to come. What this flower looks like, no one knows for sure. All that is known is that it wilts as you walk by, taking us to our main star.

Years ago, a lone wolf named Larken laid her eyes upon a wondrous flower with unheard of beauty. As she approached, the flower wilted into a shriveled black twig. Larken was displeased with how quickly the flower had died, and stepped on it, squishing it into the ground. Her hatred to all things dead ultimately caused her downfall, and if she’d shown a little more respect toward the flower, maybe she would have lived.

You see, after having destroyed what was left of the flower, she left to return home. If she’d stuck around a little longer, she’d have seen the flower come back to life, a glowing red mass. It cast a spell on her, being the magical plant that it was, bringing additional death to her life. What Larken found when she finally reached home shows only an ounce of what the flower could really do.

What her beautiful green eyes rested upon was a dying forest, and upon the forest floor were dead animals of all sorts; deer, squirrels, you name it, she found it. The forest floor was covered in blood from a fight that had taken place after she destroyed the flower, her enemy and family’s bodies drained of blood. She grew frightened by the sight she’d come to see, and fled as fast as she could before the same fate fell upon her.

That, unfortunately, wasn’t the end of the flower’s curse. Everywhere she came to call home ended in the same manner in which her first home had. Larken became filled with grief and sorrow that she eventually took refuge in a cave. Since no one else lived there when she finally called the cave home, she was the only one to die when the same fate befell the cave.

Had she let the flower be, only her father would have died. Since she destroyed the flower after it wilted, it cursed her with the destruction of her home, family, and prey. Her one action -destroying the flower- ended up leading to her misery, and ultimately, her death.
