Spirit Whisperers are a very specialized breed that came into existence by breeding the biggest, and strongest Dire, Timber, and Arctic wolves. In general, these wolves are larger and stronger than other wolf breeds, faster in most cases, and can take down large game that would be difficult for other wolves to kill. Contrary to what most wolves think, Spirit Whisperers are very intelligent, but in rare cases, don't have the common sense to refrain from engaging in stupid behaviors. Most don't show their true intelligence so they can be on the low end of the suspicion scale.
These wolves are able to sense another wolf's soul and the general nature of the soul (aka: personality), and very powerful Spirit Whisperers can even influence the soul itself. This is achieved over at least 15 years of continual effort, but due to their size, most Spirit Whisperers don't make it past 8 years of life. Only 1 out of every 1,000 Spirit Whisperers makes it past 12 years, and even fewer than that make it to 15 years. The chances of a Spirit Whisperer making it to 15 years of age is 1 in a million, and 1 in every billion make it past 15 years of age. There have been no known cases of Spirit Whisperers making it past 18 years of age.
On the blue moon, a rare event, Spirit Whisperers are granted one night of flight. Wings sprout from their backs, giving the wolves the power to fly over their territory at greater speeds than they would ordinarily be able to travel by foot. This is also a time of mass mating to produce the best pups. Female Spirit Whisperers become sexually mature by the age one year, six months, and males become sexually mature by two years of age due to their relatively short life spans.
Due to their large size, Spirit Whisperers have litters with no more than three pups, and a litter of three is very rare. Only the largest females can handle a litter containing more than two pups. Pups usually weight five pounds at birth, and quickly put on weight after that, but slow down after about a year, in which case, most pups are around 150-160 lbs. They also grow quickly, and are, in most cases, full grown by the age of one year, three months. In rare cases, where the pup is separated from its parents, and does not receive proper hormone doses, the pup grows at a slower rate, and can sometimes be mistaken for being part of a different breed until fully grown.
